NEW DELHI: Mumbai police are looking into a bomb threat that was sent to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday, the second in less than a month. The bank’s official website received the threat via email in Russian.

An unidentified person is the subject of a case at the Mata Ramabai Marg (MRA Marg) police station. “A threatening email was received on the Reserve Bank of India’s official website,” stated the Zone 1 DCP of the Mumbai Police. The Russian-language email threatened to blow up the bank. At the Mata Ramabai Marg (MRA Marg) police station, a case has been filed against an unidentified suspect. An investigation into the situation is in progress.

This follows a multi-agency search of six Delhi schools’ buildings after they received bomb threats via email. The most recent threats follow similar emails sent to at least 44 schools on December 9.
Those threats had been deemed fake by the police.

In response, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal questioned how the children would be affected by the bomb threats and noted that it was the second such incident in a week.

A fire service official in Delhi stated, “We received calls (regarding the threat emails) from Bhatnagar International School in Paschim Vihar (4:21 am), Cambridge School in Shri Niwas Puri (6:23 am) and DPS Amar Colony in East of Kailash (6:35 am).”

“(Calls were also received) from the South Delhi Public School in Defence Colony (7:57 am), Delhi Police Public School in Safdarjung (8:02 am) and Venkateshwar Global School in Rohini (8:30 am),” he continued.
